Running tips

Are you running for the very first time?
Not sure what to do?

Here are some guidlines to think about for any runner....

Important Running guidlings
Avoid loose change Loose change can slow you down while running.
Be sure to warm up & warm down Your heart and legs need proper time to adjust. Start out with a walk followed by easy running for a couple of minutes. After running, cool down. Stay at a nice jogging pace. Your warm down should be longer in order to increase recovery rate and avoid muscle soreness.
Find a running partner When you find someone to run with, you are more willing to keep on running. Whether it's friends or family, they can help you stick to your routine.
Involve cross training Running can become very strenuous on the legs. Start out slow and build up your running distance. Be sure to incorporate other forms of exercise. These exercises can include: biking, walking, swimming, and hiking.Your legs need a break once in awhile.
Check your pulse One good way to determine if your pulse in improving is to check it. Count the number of beats within 10 seconds and multiply that by 10(this gives you beats per minute). Your pulse will improve over time. If your pulse is 5 to 8 beats higher than yesterday, take a rest and run again tomorrow. Don't over do it. Your body needs a rest.
Listen to your body If you are feeling any pain, dizzyness, or aches, ask yourself how you are feeling. If you simply can't run don't force your body. If problems persist be sure to get them checked before they turn into bigger issues. If you think something is wrong, don't over do it.
Keep a persistant routine Running for two hours once a week will not show any progress. Keep a persistant run every 3 to 4 days a week and running at least 30 mins per day. Your progress simply can't improve once every week.

It is never too late to start running. You will feel relaxed from a job well done.
